1. Our commitment
We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or prefer reduced motion. Accessibility is a build requirement here rather than a pass at the end.
2. The standard we build to
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is the level referenced by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites, and it is the level most commonly required in enterprise procurement.
3. What we have done, and measured
The following are verified by automated measurement across the whole site at 360, 375, 414, 768, 1024, 1280, 1440 and 1920 pixels wide, not by eye:
- Contrast. Every piece of text on the site meets or exceeds the WCAG AA contrast ratio for its size. Body text on the dark surface runs well above the 4.5:1 minimum, and headline text over imagery was measured against the brightest part of the image behind it rather than the average.
- No horizontal scrolling at any of the widths above, so the site reflows rather than forcing sideways panning.
- Semantic structure. Every page uses proper landmarks, has exactly one
h1, and keeps a logical heading order below it. - Skip link. The first thing a keyboard user reaches is a link that jumps past the navigation to the main content.
- Keyboard operation. Every link, button, form field and the mobile menu can be reached and operated by keyboard. The mobile menu closes on Escape.
- Visible focus. Focused elements carry a clear outline that meets the contrast requirement against both the light and dark surfaces.
- Text alternatives. Every image has an alt attribute. Decorative images are marked as decorative so screen readers skip them rather than announcing noise.
- Reduced motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, all entrance animations and smooth scrolling are switched off.
- Zoom and resize. Text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content or function, and the layout uses relative units so it responds to your browser's text size.
- Forms. Every field has a visible, associated label, required fields are marked, and input types are set so mobile keyboards match the field.
4. Known limitations
We would rather tell you what is not done than imply everything is:
- This site has not yet been tested with assistive technology users. Automated measurement catches contrast, structure and keyboard reachability; it does not tell you whether a screen reader experience is actually pleasant. That testing is planned.
- It has not been audited against WCAG 2.2 Level AAA, and we do not claim that level.
- The typefaces used cover Latin scripts only. Content in Devanagari would need a different face, and we have not yet published content in Hindi or Marathi.
- Where we publish a document as a PDF in future, that PDF may not carry the same structural tagging as the site. Where that happens we will offer an accessible alternative on request.
5. Technical specification
This site relies on HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript. It works without JavaScript, with the exception of the mobile menu and the cookie banner. It is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, with the operating system's own accessibility features enabled.
6. How this was assessed
Assessed by self-evaluation. Contrast ratios, heading structure, landmark use, alt attributes, keyboard reachability, focus visibility and reflow were checked programmatically across every page and every breakpoint listed above, as part of the build, and the build does not ship while any of those checks fail.
7. Tell us if something does not work
If you hit a barrier on this site, we want to know, and we would rather hear about it than not. Write to info@dimenai.in with the page address and what went wrong. We aim to reply within five working days and to tell you what we are going to do about it and when.
If you need something on this site in another format, ask and we will provide it.
8. If we do not resolve it
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the Office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of India.
